Horseback riding Cordillera Circuit - Short - 5 days

This is a trip for adventurers! Riding five days on horseback through the ever changing landscape of the Cordillera. Crossing fast running rivers, climbing up steep mountains and sleeping in the outdoor, makes you feel like a pioneer again.

Day 1
Steppe horseback riding - Patagonia ArgentinaWe leave Bariloche from the little creek of Medio and quickly enter the vast land of the steppe. Pre-Cordillera land with little vegetation until we cross the Rio Nirihuau. Here we get a look at an old tradition of stone-making. At the 'hornos de ladrillo' horses are used to provide energy for the big oven that cooks the mudstones. We go further to the 'Roca del condor' where we might be able to see the condors circle above our heads. Then we set up camp on the coast of the Rio Pichileufu.

Day 2
Steppe horseback riding - Patagonia Argentina Enjoying a delicious campfire breakfast on the riverside we get ready to follow the river up to Las Mellizas. Here the real Cordillera starts and we climb above the 2000 meter borderline where we can see the snow on the mountaintops. We have to pass through Porte Suelo from where we will have an incredible view of the Villegas valley. As we go down we find a nice spot to camp on the Rio Villegas coast.

Day 3
This day we ride along the river of Villegas in between the mountains of the Pre Cordillera. We have a relaxed lunch on the riverside and then continue to find a good spot for the night along this beautiful bluegreen river.

Day 4Steppe horseback riding - Patagonia Argentina
In the morning we follow the river until we get to Pampa del Toro, where we cross a road and follow our way to Lago Esteffen. In the middle of nature this lake is connected with three other lakes, and the view of the three lakes is breathtaking. We make camp at the lake and cook our campfire dinner.

Day 5
From Lago Esteffen we ride all the way up to Lago Mascardi. In the wilderness there is the Veranada del Bock, a region where the grass always grows, hence its name 'veranada' (verano= summer). Here a lot of cattle comes to feed. A beautiful waterfall can be seen at the end of the Veranada. And if we're lucky the Patron will just be cooking up his beef on the BBQ and invite us for a drink. A winding road across a beautiful river leads us back to civilization where we will be picked up by car. Back at the hotel you are welcomed with a soft bed and warm shower.
